DESCRIPTION:Art in Bloom DC returns to Anderson House for a fourth time on March 14-17! This popular event fills our historic headquarters with dozens of floral arrangements inspired by the art and architecture of Anderson House. Art in Bloom provides a unique opportunity in the nation’s capital to stroll through the museum at your own pace\, viewing interpretations of specific artworks\, furnishings and architectural details rendered in a floral medium by some of Washington’s most creative and innovative floral designs. \nVisit during regular viewing hours to explore the floral arrangements\, tour the museum\, and participate in special demo sessions with featured floral designers. And join us and the premier local florists who created the displays for an evening reception exploring these floral artworks and the collections that inspired them. \nAnderson House is the exclusive venue for Art in Bloom DC and is co-produced by the Institute\, Margo Fischer of Bright Occasions\, and Ashley Greer of Atelier Ashley Flowers. \nFor more information on Art in Bloom DC and to see photos of past floral installations\, visit http://www.artinbloomdc.com. \nPublic Viewing: Thursday March 14 – Sunday\, March 17\nThursday\, March 14 from 12 p.m.—4 p.m.\nFriday\, March 15 from 10 a.m.—6 p.m.\nSaturday\, March 16 from 10 a.m.—6 p.m.\nSunday\, March 17 from 12 p.m.—4 p.m.\nOnline Tickets: $15.00 per person\nTickets at Door: $18.00 per person\nFree admission for Society of the Cincinnati Members\, ARI Associates & Children Under 5\nPlease note: Strollers are not permitted in Anderson House. There is a designated area for strollers located in the courtyard outside of the main entrance. \nDuring this limited four-day event\, visitors can explore the floral installations and tour the museum during special public viewing hours. Our expert museum docents will be on hand to discuss the history of Anderson House\, the collections\, and the Society of the Cincinnati and its American Revolution Institute. Tickets for each demo session includes general admission to Art in Bloom DC for the day the demo session is held. \nFriday\, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. — Smudge Stick Lab with BLK FLWR MRKT\nIn the BLK FLWR MRKT Smudge Stick Lab\, explore history and culture through the diverse ways communities have used flowers for spiritual use\, rituals\, medicine and more over the course of time. Guests learn how to create a custom Floral Smudge Stick\, while learning the history of burning different herbs\, writing affirmations\, and engaging in sensory activities. Prepare to be blindfolded! \nTicket price: $75 per person (includes general admission to Art in Bloom for Friday\, March 15) \n  \nSaturday\, March 16 at 11:00 a.m. —The Magic of Everyday Flowers with Atelier Ashley Flowers\nJoin Ashley Greer of Atelier Ashley Flowers for an informative lecture on the magical meanings and healing properties of flowers in everyday life. Ashley will demonstrate a new magical bouquet while discussing some of her favorite floral ingredients and how they can be used to bring positive energy into the home. \nRegistration is Full\n  \nSaturday\, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. — Presentation by Sarah Khan Event Styling\nInspired by her background and upbringing as a first-generation child of immigrants\, Sarah developed an eye for creating beauty at a young age. The conglomerate of fading techniques of Pakistani and Indian artisans of days old took a new life as Sarah used her skills to create distinct event experiences in the D.C. metro area. As the Creative Director\, Sarah looks to every client as an opportunity to be a visual architect with a desire to create timeless beauty.  Over the last decade\, Sarah Khan and her studio have designed exquisite weddings for the creme de la creme of D.C.’s social scene. Her aesthetic and design concepts have caught the attention of coveted publications\, lifestyle brands\, celebrities\, and politicians. Khan’s creative team has found itself featured in digital and print publications in Harper’s Bazaar Bride India\, South Asian Bride magazine\, Modern Luxury\, Washingtonian\, and television features on Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise and the full series of Season 2 of Full Bloom on HBOmax. Sarah’s approach to the creative space is to focus on self growth unaltered by the opinion of others. For those interested in sustainability in design\, this demo would be of interest to you. Hanakubari is a technique using natural materials for flower support that integrates the material in the design\, rather than covering the mechanics.
