SUMMARY:Author's Talk - East Florida in the Revolutionary Era\, 1763-1785
DESCRIPTION:In 1763 Great Britain organized the colony of East Florida\, which formed the entirety of what is now the state of Florida east of the Apalachicola River. Today\, the history of East Florida is seldom studied\, relegated to the outskirts of literature on the colonial and revolutionary era. Yet\, the Revolution in East Florida included a violent border war that erupted between East Florida and the state of Georgia in 1775\, two noteworthy battles fought on East Florida soil and three American invasions that failed to bring East Florida into the rebellion. In his new book\, historian George Kotlik provides the first comprehensive and detailed history of British East Florida by exploring the colony’s early development and often neglected connection to the Revolutionary War. \n  \nRegistration is requested. To attend the author’s talk in-person at Anderson House\, or to watch virtually\, please use the appropriate form below.\n  \nAbout the Speaker\nGeorge Kotlik is a historian who specializes in eighteenth-century North American history\, specifically the American Revolutionary era.
