Year in Revolution is our new, short-form video learning series developed to commemorate the Semiquincentennial observance of the start of the American War for Independence. Lasting three minutes per video, each installment of this nine-part series highlights a different year of the war, beginning in 1775 and ending in 1783. Year in Revolution videos present both a comprehensive overview, as well as a “who, what, when, where, and how,” employing archival animation that features the library and museum collections of the the Society of the Cincinnati and its American Revolution Institute. “Who” videos explore categories of people from the revolutionary generation, “what” videos explore revolutionary ideas and ideals, “when” videos explore revolutionary events, “where” videos explore key places during the war, and “how” videos explore relationships that helped define the Revolution. Featured video topics were suggested by our national network of Master Teachers Seminar alumni.
Funding for the 1775 through 1778 installments of Year in Revolution was made possible by a grant from the George S. Rich Family Foundation.
The creative team for this series was assembled by the American Revolution Institute and the talented educational production leads at Makematic Limited.
